All around the world libraries are changing. Rooms filled
with dusty books are being replaced by engaging community spaces. Modern
libraries now seek to bring together multiple services and service providers to
better meet the needs of residents in the 21st century.
In similar communities as well as
providing traditional lending services, libraries now host or support access to
a wide variety of other activities. These new services can include: children’s
literacy programs, book clubs, author talks, training and skills development
courses, business incubation, community meeting spaces and health advice. There
are many other potential opportunities and council is seeking your views on what
services should be provided by the libraries in Mitchell Shire.
For libraries to remain relevant in the future, the
services provided must align with the needs of residents. We are currently
developing a long-term plan to guide the development of lifelong learning and
library services and are seeking your inputs.
Make sure your views and ideas on lifelong learning and libraries are heard by coming along to one of our community workshop sessions:

- 6pm, Wednesday 16 October 2013, John Taylor Room - Kilmore Library
